Pump Total Dynamic Head Calculator

Reference data currently covers water from 0-100 °C.

Flooded: the water source sits above the pump (positive suction head). Lift: the pump must draw water up from below.

Suction Piping

No pipe segments

Discharge Piping

No pipe segments

Usually negligible for typical piping velocities — off by default, include only if you specifically need it accounted for.

Formula Reference

Total Dynamic Head

TDH=hstatic+hf,suction+hf,discharge+hresidual+hvelocityTDH = h_{static} + h_{f,suction} + h_{f,discharge} + h_{residual} + h_{velocity}

h_static = static head (discharge elevation vs. suction condition), h_f,suction / h_f,discharge = Darcy-Weisbach friction head loss through the suction/discharge piping (summed per segment), h_residual = required residual pressure at the outlet expressed as head, h_velocity = velocity head at the discharge (only included when selected).
